Profile Evaluation and Career Guidance

by samy10in » Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:52 pm
Hi

I am in US on a dependant VISA (L2 Blanket) and have received a work permit. I am looking forward for some career guidance which would help me build my career into Human Resources.

I am from INDIA, graduated with a Bachelor in Commerce (B.Com) degree in the year 1999 with 60% (first class). Thereafter I had been working and have a work experience of 6 Years into an ITES (IT Enabled Services Sector - Outsourcing Firm) and was in an Insurance Domain looking after the day to day Operations (prime responsibilities involved Client and Process Management, Preparing Rosters, Shift Handling, Conference Calls, Preparation of MIS and Meeting and Maintaining Service Levels set by the clints, Preparing Dashboards, Conducting Team Meetings, Performance Appraisals, MIS, Identifying Training Needs within the team etc). I was last designated as an Assistant Team Manager - Operations. Thereafter, I had an opportunity and had also been working with a Forging Company (a mid sized firm) handling its Operations and Human Resources.

During this entire tenure of mine, I found myself inclined towards Human Resources (since being into operations I had been more into people management and have developed skills relating to the same) and I want to make a career into the same. Being in the USA, I am currently doing an online AMA (American Management Association) Certification into Human Resources. I want, at this stage to understand where my credentials stand alongwith the work experience and what could be my GPA when considered based on the US grading system. Also, how can I try for some Internships and what would be the best that would fetch me both ways - education as well as work. I would be glad if you could help me out.

Thanks
