Option A:- Incorrect
In the first instance, the surgery technique so developed is a singular subject i.e TECHNIQUE which does not warrant the use of the plural pronoun THEM, and that's aside the fact that the statement is a direct lifting of the question passage.

Option B:- Incorrect
Here, the author tries to over-emphasize the article the within the context of "the wearing of eye glasses" . This particular object hasn't been talked about in the time past because it's a new invention which therefore doesn't require the use of the emphatic article THE.

Option C:- correct
The LASIK surgery technique being a singular item makes the singular shape of it instead of them (plural of it). The explanation by the author is rather simple than all that's been so far considered.

Option D:- Incorrect
This is not quite different from the option A explained above. compare the noun word with the corresponding pronoun used in place of it.

Option E:- Incorrect
This is a conjunction which ordinarily means "In addition to" Here, in the context it has been used as a punctuation is necessary to break it into different parts with the later explaining directly what's stated in the earlier part.
