Only B and C is the competitor here,

The electron was named in 1947 -- perfect
The electron named in 1947 --- wrong

P.S - Please don't validate the date

B - GRE first administered in .... --> GRE is performing the action and hence wrong
C - GRE was administered in ...--> perfect, passive form ( be + past participle)

IMO :C
