In my opinion:

A. worng comparison: person vs work.
B. worng comparison: person vs work.
C. worng comparison: person vs work.
D. correct comparison: work vs work. "is more + adjective" adecquate. Parallel wirh "than Bartrand ...".
E. correct comparison: work vs work. "work more + verb + that of" not parallel with "than Bartrand ...". Also, isn't that awkward?

conclusion: IMO D
