Is abc/def > bc/de

by robosc9 » Tue Sep 13, 2011 9:14 pm
Is abc/def > bc/de
1 bc>de
2 a>f

OA is E

Can someone please provide a detailed explanation for this one?
I was able to identify (a/f)(bc/de) > bc/de, but a little confused about how to proceed further.
let bc = x and de=y..
then ax/fy > x/y ????
a) x>y is given. but nothing about a and f. insufficient
b) a>f. no info about x and y.. (We can't cancel them because we don't know whether x/y is -ve or +ve)
Insufficient..

a&b) we don't know whether x/y >0 (it is possible -1 > -4 but 1/4 >1 is not true)
Insufficient
IMO E
