heres another one........... pls explain it......

Before George Eliot became the popular and respected novelist known as George Eliot, she had been an anonymos translator and essayist.


A) -----do--------

B) Before she had been the popular and respected novelist, George Eliot she was

C) George Eliot has been popular and respected novelist, George Eliot after such time as she was

D) Before George Eliot became the popular and respected novelist, George Eliot, she was

E) George Eliot, before she was the popular and respected novelist, George Eliot, had been
Eat like a Pig, Lift like a Demon & Sleep like the Dead.............

I think the answer is A. The correct use of past participle. Both are past events and she was an essayist before she became popular.
Btw what does the solution says?

Has to be A just for the simple fact that the other answer choices do not make sense at all.

OA = A :?

but I picked B :x ........ i thought A had 2 many repetiotions of George Eliot.......

B doesn't use past perfect tense correctly. What is the source of this question?

Kindly help.
We will use the second sentence as before signifies that one event has occurred before another, so no need to use past perfect tense. Simple past tense 'was' is absolutely fine.

So wouldn't the OA in this post require a correction?

The OA says

Before George Eliot became the popular and respected novelist known as George Eliot, she had been an anonymos translator and essayist.

Shouldn't it be

Before George Eliot became the popular and respected novelist known as George Eliot, she was an anonymos translator and essayist.

?

Hi, i have not said that usage of 'had been' would make the sentence incorrect, though had it been 'was', the sentence would have been much better. This sentence is grammatically correct IMO. In this particular question, there is no other correct option.
