C

a-that is unlike any other known insect in its spending (wrong because comparing species to 'insects in its spending" noun compared to a verb)

b - that is unlike any insect known as it spends (wrong because it refers to which one? not a proper antecedent)

c- that is needed to describe species, correclty used, spends matched singluar noun species

d- unlike any insect known because it spends (wrong, meaning changed, because which one is know for spending? unclear)

e - unlike any other insect that is known, spending (wrong , comma ing refers to the whole sentence , here it refers to the zoologist.Hence makes no sense)
