Likely conclusion - CR

by karthikpandian19 » Wed May 09, 2012 11:09 pm
Of all the people who fought for India`s independence from the British, the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi is considered the most important. However, much of the groundwork of the Indian independence struggle had already taken place before Gandhi came on the scene.

Which of the following is the most likely conclusion that the author of the above passage is trying to draw?

(A) Gandhi may not have been the most important contributory to India`s freedom struggle.

(B) Gandhi was not the most important contributory to India`s freedom struggle.

(C) In the absence of the groundwork that preceded him, Gandhi might not have achieved as much for India`s independence.

(D) Had Gandhi not worked for India`s independence, India would not have gained independence.

(E) Gandhi is among the most important Indians to have ever lived.

Can some one please explain why A is incorrect.
Author has pointed out that- the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi is considered the most important. However, much of the groundwork of the Indian independence struggle had already taken place before Gandhi came on the scene. -- so isn't it that instead of absence of ground work Gandhi might not have achieved as much for India`s independence, author is trying to bring the point that Gandhi was not the main contributor.

whats the source of this problem?
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!
