After many years of feeling separated by a great divide, the doctor now finds himself besides the lawyer, working with one another against HMOs and big tobacco.
1)besides the lawyer, working with one another
2)besides the lawyer, working with each other
3)beside the lawyer, working with each other
4)beside the lawyer, working with him
5)beside the lawyer, working with one another

I made the mistake of thinking beside is plural and besides is singular!
Also, is One another better to use or Each Other. What is the difference between the two?
