Stem: |x+2| = 4, implies x+2 = 4 or x+2 = -4, which inturn implies x = 2 or -6.

From I, x = -6. Hence answer is A or D
From II, x = -6.

Hence answer is D.

1) is def sufficient

but for 2) x^2 = 36 is +/- 6, so I was not sure if it's okay to say suff for the answewr -6..

Good question. I believe it is sufficient because:

Given in stem: x = 2 or -6.

From II we get x = 6 or -6. When I combine this info with what it given in stem, I get a unique value of x.
