divisiblity

by ashish2104 » Sun Jul 04, 2010 11:05 pm
If n is a positive integer is n^3-n divisible by 4?
1) n = 2k+1, where k is an integer
2) n^2+nis divisible by 6
My question here is, using 1) n= 1,3,5,7....all odd integers. But when n=1, n^3-n is 0. I read on wiki that 0 is not divisible by 4. For that matter 0 is not disivisble by any integer as the answer will always be 0. Can someone please confirm this?
IMO, 0 is definitely an integer/number. There is a possibility that n could take 1.
