The increased popularity and availability of televisions has led to the decline of regional dialects, language variations which originate from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated by geographic isolation.
(A) which originate from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
(B) that originated from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
(C) originated from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
(D) originating from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated
(E) originating from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuating

Why [spoiler]D and not B/C[/spoiler]?

IMO D

Not B because the sentence is in present tense and it makes seense to keep it that way as in D.

Not A because the use of 'which', 'that' is more suitable for this case.

Can someone please tell in D....."perpetuated" is parallel to what ?

What are regional dialects:

Regional dialects are language variations [we need a present participle here as its not a thing of the past.. its still present, so we use originating] originating from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuated [past participle in parallel with the present participle used... ] by geographic isolation.

Popularity and availability isn't really plural.

Good question.. I don't think this is a case of parallelism; however, something is being done to the variations by something else. This calls for the past participle.

X and Y always becomes plural doesnt it? John and Joe "have" 10 dollars...

Because it is not in underlined part :-)...

Moreover this is not a official question.....

Although IMO it the correct should be "have"
