MGMAT SC says:

I own MORE THAN I should - In this sentence MORE is acting as noun or pronoun.
How to deduce that?

I sleep MORE THAN I should - In this sentence MORE is acting as adverb.
How??

own is a verb which needs an object.

I own a car.

sleep is a verb which doesn't need a object

I sleep.

So when you write

I sleep more : more is an adverb, modifying to verb sleep.

I own more : more is an object for own, so noun or pronoun.

The difference is transitive verb and intransitive verb. Transitive verb must be followed by noun phrase, whereas intransitive verb can end sentence or followed by adverb.
