by saurabhkamal1981 » Tue Dec 07, 2010 8:29 pm
Hi All,

Please help in the following P & C question:-

A university cafeteria offers 4 flavors of pizza - pepperoni, chicken, hawaiian and vegetarian. If a customer has an option (but not the obligation) to add extra cheese, mushrooms or both to any kind of pizza, how many different pizza varieties are available ?

(A) 4
(B) 8
(C) 12
(D) 16
(E) 32

My answer is E, but unfortunately this is not the answer. D is the correct answer.

Waiting for your reply

Thanks & Regards
Saurabh

For each of pepperoni, chicken, Hawaiian and vegetarian pizza, there are 4 options available.
1. Neither cheese or mushroom
2. Cheese and no mushroom
3. Mushroom and no cheese
4. Both mushroom and cheese

So in total we have 4*4 or 16 varieties.

The correct answer is hence (D).
