Accuracy of Kaplan and Arco tests

by djmallu » Fri Oct 03, 2008 11:45 am
Hey, I've been studying for a little over a month now and I'm getting really contrasting results. They are:
Kaplan 1: 560
Kaplan 2: 540
MGMT : 590
GMATPrep: 650

Also, I keep running out of time on the kaplan tests. Nevertheless, I now have some 'Arco' tests. Can somebody tell me how good i.e. in terms of level of difficulty they are. Are they a close indicator of what the gmat score could be, because I honestly seem to think that the Kaplan tests are a tad bit more difficult than the actual GMAT one's.

Thanks.

GMAT prep is the best of what is available today. KAPLAN generally gives you lesser scores. I have no idea on ARCO but I have heard they are easier than the actual ones. So I would suggets that you plan on the basis of your GMAT prep scores.
Wish you good luck

what is gmatprep? Is it the two tests that come on the CD. Are they paper tests? I haven't been able to find out. Also what are good online practice tests simulated with time. Thank you.

Thanks Prasanna, I guess I'll just give the Arco tests for experience sake and will pin my hopes on the TestPrep scores...

Kaplan's bad, Arco's bad. Stick to GMATPrep (I downloaded them from www.mba.com, the official site -- they are not paper tests, don't bother with paper tests) and Princeton Review.

Hey wickely,

I know Kaplan's definitely tougher than the actual GMAT, but can you elaborate on Arco. I just want to give those tests to get exposed to a wider array of questions. I was simply wondering whether the Arco tests were more difficult or easier than the actual GMAT.

It's not a matter of difficulty on the Arco tests...they're just not representative of the questions you'd see on the real GMAT. The questions aren't well written.
