Hii my name is Joy and I did my B.tech in Electronics and Telecommunication from KIIT university in Orisa,India which is not a very reputed college
My scores are as follows:
10:81.2%
12:81.8%
Undergrad:7.52cgpa
I dropped a year to prepare for competetive examinations and although i did manage to get into the IIT-JEE extended merit list since i did not get a branch of my choice so i opted for KIIT university.
I also did a summer project/intern on Cognitive Radio at the SURGE Programe at IIT kanpur
I'll now be joining Tata Consultancy Services where I intend to work for about two years...and instead of changing job would look to do well there.
I understand that being from an IT industry and average acads my candidature is weak.But if I manage to get a good Gmat score will it obfuscate my average acads??
Extracurricular:I'm into Table tennis and I have also organized and participated in events in the Techno cum Managment fest of the college,and follow geo-politics closely.But the problem is I don't have certificates to show a lot of my skills..like table tennis which i've played with state level players but not formally in any tournament...i can only play to showcase my skill!
I can obviously join some NGO to show my volunteer work but is'nt that something almost everyone does...how do I improve my profile...can writing columns for some newspaper help...which may also create awareness for social problems??...I'm also reading on "Indian Economy since Independence" since I intend to join Politics at some point where i think I can best contribute to my country,like Sachin Pilot who was an Mba grad from wharton and now heads the telecomm ministry.
any other suggestions that you can give is most welcomed...I think with hard work I can get a good score in Gmat somthing like 700 or may be beyond with luck...and my target school are the best ones or th more renowned ones and not any run of the mill college since i'll be investing considerable amount of money and time.
