Please let me know your thoughts for me applying to NYU Stern Part-time Langone Program for Fall 2011.
Age: 26
GMAT: 680, Q: 50, V: 31, AWA: 5 (yeah, I know my verbal is low. I have only taken the GMAT once)
Undergraduate: Carnegie Mellon University
Major: Electrical/Computer Engineering (ranked 4th in nation by US News)
Add. Major: Computer Science (ranked 4th in nation by US News for grad)
GPA: 2.88
Current Employment: Systems Engineer (technical person in sales) I work with the customer to determine the best products that my company can provide to fit the requirements given. With my job, I have received multiple awards in sales and have done very well.
I think my one concern is my GPA. Granted, the two programs I graduated from are some of the top in the country, it still falls outside the 80% range of the part-time program (2.9-3.8). Also, being an engineer, one of the big comments about engineers applying to MBA programs is lack of outside interests and lack of communication skills. I doubt the lack of communication skills would apply to me, since I am an engineer in sales, but still would like to know your thoughts. Also, I am very active in outdoor activities.
The purpose of me getting an MBA is to gain the knowledge to start my own business in the future.
Thanks for your help.
