Yes, I'd only consider it a promotion if you were promoted in the same company.

This is way too polished. Almost feels inauthentic.

Very good point regarding promotions, however i think that even moving to a different role in another company may be considered as promotion if you can explain why your new role is better or more senior, like moving from being an engineer in a team to managing a team (in another company).

Another thing about the work experience in this tool that i don't understand is the fact that managing people in a project is not impressive - some projects can last over a year, and managing people during such projects is a substantial contribution to one's work experience, so why give only one third of the points?

You're right, in that case you should probably get more points, and regardless of this tool you should mention on your resume how much time the project lasted and how many people you managed.

Actually, I figured it's not about the points at all, it's about making your work experience sound as impressive as possible on your resume and essays. That's what counts!

I see what you mean, as an entrepreneur you start as founder/CEO and can't be promoted. I guess in that case you just need to show the successful progress of your company and the actions you took to make it successful.

I just took this test and i think i did pretty well. it really made me think hard on all details of my work experience, even stuff i already forgot.

Same here, it got me thinking and i remembered things that happened years ago and worth mentioning on the resume, like promotions and projects i ran.

How did you evaluate the strength of your own application and essays? this is a big part of the points and it seems a bit questionable...
