My solution:
Original price for an apple is 0.4 dollars, during the sale, 3 apples will cost $1.
To purchase 30 apples, the original price will be 0.4*30=$12, the discounted price will be $10. So the difference will be $2

The normal price of 30 apples is 30 x 40 = 1200 cents, or $12. The sale price of 30 apples is 30/3 x 1 = $10. So 12 - 10 = $2 would be saved by purchasing 30 apples at the sale price.

Answer: C

At regular price, 30 apples cost 30 x 0.40 = 12 dollars.

At the sale price, 30 apples cost 30 x 1/3 = 10 dollars.

So at the sale price, a total of 2 dollars is saved.

Answer: C
