Will definitely go with C.

Anyone is singular..themselves cant be used.

A,B and E out.

Amoung C and D counsel is used as verb and council as noun.

verb will be used here.

In E' them' is wrong..

Anyone who must defend him- or herself but cannot afford a lawyer can rest assured that the Sixth Amendment guarantees them the right to legal counsel.

Since C and D are the only choice that have an antecedent to the pronouns, I was able to eliminate all the other answer choices. According to MGMAT, the GMAT will generally name the personal antecedent rather than leaving them nameless. Lawyer is not the antecedent in this case.

Correct me if I am wrong.
