(1) 5p > 7
(2) 3p − 5 > 1
Is (3p)(4) > 20?
3*4*p > 20
12p > 20
p > 20/12
p > 5/3
p > 1.67

Question stem, rephrased:
Is p > 1.67?

Statement 1: 5p > 7
p > 7/5
p > 1.4.
If p = 1.5, the p < 1.67, with the result that the answer to the question stem is NO.
If p = 2, then p > 1.67, with the result that the answer to the question stem is YES.
Since the answer is NO in the first case but YES in the second case, INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: 3p-5 > 1
3p > 6
p > 2.
Thus, p > 1.67, with the result that the answer to the question stem is YES.
SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is B.
