I'm going with A. I think that to get rid of the semicolon would require the independent clause to have an "and" before it. Otherwise I think it is a run on. "Many another" is idiomatically incorrect.

Is "as with" idiomatically incorrect here? If so, why?

but in my opinion , in A we have independent clause.... but after semicolon, i dont think it is independent clause , it is subordinate clause..if i am not missing anything and we can use semicolon, if it would have been indepedent clause.
Is the second part after semicolon is independent clause. or subordinate.

IMO A.

The clause after ; is indeed an independent clause.
1st independent clause: Like many others of his generation of Native American leaders, Joseph Brant lived in two worlds;

2nd independent clause: Born into an Iroquois community and instructed in traditional Iroquois ways, he(Joseph Brant) also received an education from English-speaking teachers.

A makes sense, but I don't see anything wrong with B.
In B, "living in 2 worlds" can modify "Native American leaders"

Sentence startes with "Like many others ..."

hence we should bring the "person" who is compared as close as posssible to this description

Even if you remove the comma, living two worlds would come in between description and person to be compared and sounds akwward...

If you remove comma and also "living two words" -what option A did

That would make the modification correct

Like many others of his generation of Native American leaders modifies Joseph Brant and not the phrase living in two worlds...hope it clarifies...
