Help me understand what is going on

by mossovet814 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 6:25 am
Help me understand what is going on, because I am getting really desperate. My profile:

GMAT: 700
GPA: 3.9
Undergraduate degree: double degree from Moscow State Institute of International Relations (Russia) in international relations and economics + summer programs at SUNY, New York
Age: 25
Female
Work experience: 4 years part-time (while University) + 4 years full-time (in a private company that deals with retail of jewelry; 3 last years held the position of the Head of the Sales Department at this company)
Experience in international team-building
Fluent in English, Russian, French and Spanish
Have a number of extracurricular activities while college and after graduation
Goals after graduation: start working for a multinational company that deals with high-tech (the choice is explained in the essays)

The situation is as follows: I applied during the second round to Kellogg, MIT, UCLA, Stern, Yale and Fuqua. Got dings from MIT and Kellogg. On that basis I started getting nervous as of course I have not heard anything from other Universities and do not know whether it's a good sign or not. Who can predict what are my chances with the other 3 schools and is it a bad sign that I did not hear from adcoms so far?

From your list, Kellogg and MIT are among the most competitive, so I would not be too concerned. You have a great profile, so I would bet at least one of those schools on the list will extend you an offer unless there was something wrong with your application. No way to predict if one school will let you in based upon the decision of another, though. As for not hearing, most schools have a date on which they announce their decisions. If you have not heard by these dates, I would be calling the admissions office to find out why.
