(would) gmatprep question

why do we have to add (would) to the sentence?

words like forecast indicates hypothetical situtaion and require would , if kind of sentances.....there are some more trigger words for hypothetical situation remembering them always helps.

It does not matter how many times you get knocked down , but how many times you get up

"economical" is wrong

"than they do now" is prefered than "than now" ON GMAT LAND
