How advantageous is applying early to a top tier evening mba rolling admissions program (such as Booth)?

I am contemplating applying for summer but can only do so 2-3 weeks before the deadline due to GMAT scheduling.
I am also weighing applying for the fall and can do so 3 months in advance to the deadline.

I am also aware that fall terms generally accept more students due to more applicants applying during that time.

so from what I can deduce the question can be reworded: is it advantageous to apply to a smaller candidate pool with fewer spots closer to the deadline (2wks before) or to apply to a larger candidate pool with more spots significantly earlier (3 months).

thanks!

Dear johnimoto,

I guess it depends on what your application looks like relative to the pool. If you believe you are a really strong candidate for the school and will stand out from the rest of the applicants, then applying at the last minute might work out fine. However, if you are an average candidate or weak on a measure, then I think your chances of gaining admission decrease as the admissions cycle progresses and seats are awarded. You can always talk to Booth directly to determine what applications are looking like this year, if there has been an increase for the part-time program. If applications are up, then that would tell you the number of seats available is probably very, very few.

Good luck,
Lisa
