Some days ago I did a practice test with GMATPrep and scored 710 (13 incorrect math questions and 9 incorrect verbal questions).

Today I scored a 610 at a PowerPrep practice test (11 wrong math questions and 10 wrong verbal ones).

I know there is an unknown algorithm to score the answers but how can it be that 22 wrong questions lead to 710 and 21 wrong questions lead to 610???

Do these results make sense or is there a chance of a "mistake" on the software's side?

regards

I don't think there is a mistake in the software as they have been in use for years by many thousands of students around the world. The cat algorithm determines score based on the difficulty of the questions answered correctly (and incorrectly) so it's entirely possible to get 600 with 21 wrong and 700 with 21 wrong. Also, keep in mind Verbal weighs more than Quant so that extra wrong Verbal question can bring down your score especially if it is a lower rated question (i.e. 400-500 range question). And lastly, PowerPrep is very, very old and is no longer a good indicator of your progress. Defer to GMATPrep instead.

Agreed. The GMAT Prep software is the best indicator of your ability, so you should rest assured that you're in the 700ish range. After you take the second GMAT Prep test you'll have a better idea, though.

I wish you were right. Took the second GMATPrep test 2 days ago and scored 690.

Actual GMAT yesterday was 610;(

Fuck it; anyway it's over...
