Manhattan tests

by saintlychik » Sat Nov 26, 2011 10:38 pm
Dear all,
i wrote the Manhattan GMAT tests. So for 3 of them

Manhattan test 1 : 640
Manhattan test 2 : 650 Q 45 - V34.
Manhattan test 3 : 650 Q 47, V32

How do you think i am scoring and how accurate do you think these tests are to the real test.

Current problem areas:
1. Timing (i usually need more time on both sections on an average by 10 mins)
2. Patience.
3. Silly mistakes

Pls help me, as any information now is going to prove very crucial for me. I am aiming at a 700+ score, but looking at my MGMAT practice scores, i am feeling slightly shaky!

Wht do u guys think.
Pls advice.

thx
S.

I have the exact same question as saintlychik. I am getting a little bit worried about the most resent debriefs in which test takers report that the test has slightly changed in some areas (e.g. SC) and that the test is getting "harder" (well...I get it that this is very subjective). I would appreciate it if some of the most resent test takers (test taken within the last 4 weeks) could elaborate on the "subjective" correlation between test CATs/test CAT scores and the real thing.

Here are my scores:

Manhattan GMAT 1 - 630 (Q45, V32) - 5 weeks ago
Manhattan GMAT 2 - 680 (Q48, V35) - 4 weeks ago
Manhattan GMAT 3 - 680 (Q47, V35) - 3 weeks ago
GMAT Prep 1 - 670 (Q49, V31) - 2 weeks ago
GMAT Prep 2 - 700 (Q47, V39) - 1 week ago
Manhattan GMAT 4 - 700 (Q46, V40) - 1 week ago

My test date is in the second week of December and my target score is 680 - 710.

Thanks!

PS: I found this score calculator which was a little bit helpful:

Wow feke,
you are getting pretty good scores toward the last 3 manhattan tests!

But i wanted to know how accurate is this to the main test. As my score is definitely lower than i am expecting. what else must i be cracking to attain a higher verbal score?

Guys, I took 6 Manhattan GMAT tests prior to the real exam. My scores were as follows:

MGMAT1: 640
MGMAT2: 660
MGMAT3: 670
MGMAT4: 710
MGMAT5: 690
MGMAT6: 720

GMATPREP1: 710
GMATPREP2: 730

Actual Exam: 740

What does this tell me? Manhattan exams are a bit more difficult than the actual gmat, especially the Quant section. I don't want to give you a false sense of security, but if you're scoring in the high 600's in the Manhattan practice exams, then you should be able to break the 700 barrier on the real exam. Use the GMAT prep exams as a true indicator of where you stand, but the Manhattan exams as a great practice tool and humbling score results.

Mine was
MGMAT1: 660
MGMAT2: 640
MGMAT3: 660
MGMAT5: 660 (I took it before MGMAT 4)
MGMAT4: 720 (Q 43, V 45)
GMATPrep1: 710

What I noticed was that the Manhattan Quant problems are way too hard and could be time consuming unless you are familiar with the problem and now a shortcut. I doubt this happens in real GMAT. Also, because they are too hard they give higher score even though you get a lot of them wrong. The verbal are more realistic imo.

I scored 750 (Q50,V41) in GMAT prep2 while my MGMAT score board can be found here

In the GMAT, I scored 740 (Q50,V40)
I felt that the MGMATs were fairly good for assessment.

Guys, thank you for the reply. I think i am making some silly mistakes which also shows a lower score. I am improving in my timing.

I just took MGMAT 4 : 680 q48 v35
MGMAT 5 670 q50 v33

Clearly my problem area is some silly mistakes in SC and RC. my fear factor.

I think i should give myself another 2 weeks and tk the test on a sat or sunday this month.

I feel if idnt stress myself too much this time i should be good.

Thks guys!

So I guess the question is: how are you going to destress yourself?

Here's a start - - this is just a sampler, but it should help. LISTEN to the entire thing 30 minutes. Free https://www.testprepny.com/pages/products_gmat.htm

I've also written a bunch of posts ON how to destress and focus. Search for them - - they'll surely be a great help.

These tests are NOT just about content mastery - - they're about how you take the test. They are as much about the math and verbal as they are about staying in the zone and having a positive mindset.

Good Luck!

Hi

This is the strange thing i find when i read the reviews about MGMAT CATs. I have always found MGMAT easier than GMAT Prep and my MGMAT scores are almost 80-100 points more than GMAT Prep!

I dont know what is it in the GMAT Prep (may be the dull interface) but when ever i sit down to give one i literally shake from head to toe where as MGMAT i feel very comfortable!

Funny right. Hence i dnt know what to expect. I just took a prep test gmat and scored a 730. Though i feel the score might be slightly inflated since there were a few repeat questions.
:-(

Hence its getting really difficult to gauge where i am currently.

I welcome anymore views.
I have done OG many many times and now the answers are recorded somewhere in the back of my head.

As experts in this forum suggest GMAT Prep is the best estimator of your actual score. So if you are getting that score then congrats!
