hi.. which newspaper ru talkin abt? Im from India as well

IMO, the news has confused the changes made to the 12th edition OG rather than the pattern of the GMAT.

I guess u could correlate the two, but I dont think its tougher. Just that the emphasis has been shifted a bit. Go to manhattangmat's website, and they have a thorough rundown of the changes in the latest 12th edition OG.

Agree with Vkb16.

The article may be referring to the new questions in the 12th edition(there are new questions but not sure on the 300 number, may be one of the GMAT experts can confirm that fact). Definitely the number of questions on the real test in each of the secions has not changed and in my opinion GMAC will never release any info on the number of new questions they have added to the actual exam's question pool. The article could have been a litttle more specific so as to not cause confusion among readers.

Just my 2 cents.....

Regards,
CR

The format is indeed going to change - in 2014. Chill, there isn't going to be any wholesale change without a major announcement. Just think about it, the B-schools depend on a reliable test. If a major change occurs, the reliability will naturally change as well. The schools will be consulted before anything big happens.

It should be a gimmick

There is no official info in MBA.com

I think its just a media gimmick. Lets not fall prey for it!

Published article tells about the change in OG 12th edition. The pattern of GMAT remains same.

Latest news from TOI (June 2010) says that the AWA section will be replaced by another reasoning section, this will contain videos, test takers will have to listen and answer questions.
Other sections i.e. Quant and Verbal will remain unchanged.

Hi Team,

I need help regarding few questions I have on the new GMAT format based scoring.

My situation is that I don't think I would be able to appear for gmat before the format changes.

Why & How does the score (200-800) dip after the new format change??

1. How would the scores for verbal & quant (200-800) be affected by this change of new format?
2. How much does the independent score of new Integrated Reasoning matters in the over GMAT score?
3. When can we expect to get online books/materials/coaching available for preparation for the new IR section in the market?

Thanks so much,
Arin

This is for the experts out there (you know who you are)... I was planning to take the GMAT in March or April, but now I am wondering if I should wait until June, when the Integrated Reasoning section is included. Do you think that business schools will value that format more highly than the current one? If so, I'll wait until June.
I'm really old, but I'll never be too old to become more educated.
