Hello! I am specifically searching for advice on whether I should retake the GMAT. In addition, any advice that I can implement to make myself more competitive when applying to B-schools would be great.
Here is a little about me:
Within the last month I graduated from one of the top Mechanical Engineering programs in the United States, with a minor in Leadership Studies. I graduated with a GPA of 3.58/4.00 from this school, qualifying for highest honors. During the last couple months, I had been studying for the GMAT, which I just took and scored a 720 (IR: 5/54%, Quant: 47/65%, Verbal 41/97%, Total 720/94%). Although my practice CATs showed I was weaker in Quant, I was still surprised to see this considering my heavily technical background.
While I was in my undergraduate career, I engaged in numerous leadership positions (Student Government, Student Ambassador, Executive Board of fraternity, and various other professional clubs), I interned a total of five semesters - 1 term at a Fortune 10 company and 4 terms at a regionally known company.
In the next month, I will be beginning my career with a top ranked boutique management consulting firm, and plan to apply to Business schools in 3 to 4 years. If I was to retake the GMAT, I would take it in approximately four weeks (the first two of those weeks I will be out of town and unable to study).
While I currently do not have a specific target school in mind, I would like to make myself as competitive as possible. I welcome any and all advice, whether it be something I can implement in the 3-4 years before I apply to B-school, or short-term GMAT advice. If anyone is able to provide advice on suggested target schools, I would appreciate that as well.
Thank you very much for your time and helping to guide me!
