Question regarding GPA

by make_things_happen » Sun Jul 20, 2008 9:04 pm
Hi, i'm a brazilian student and here we don't have the GPA system. Here, in the vast majority of colleges, the grades are from 1 to 10, being 7 the minimum required to pass.

How do i translate these grades to a GPA? I considered the possibility that i would only need to do a rule of three calculation, but i read somewhere that it doesn't apply.

Dear make_things_happen,

I believe there are some good tips on GPA conversion on mba.com or other legitimate MBA websites. If you have the resources, I think it could be worth the expense to have your transcript translated and evaluated by a credential service such as WES (www.wes.org). Not only will you get the proper GPA conversion, but the admissions committees will greatly appreciate you taking the extra step.

Regards,
Lisa
