The lawyer for the defense charged that she suspected the police of having illegally taped her confidential conversations with her client and then used the information obtained to find evidence supporting their murder charges.

HOW TO SOLVE THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS ?


A used the information obtained to find evidence supporting
B used such information as they obtained to find evidence supporting
C used the information they had obtained to find evidence that would support
D of using the information they had obtained to find evidence that would support
E of using such information as they obtained to find evidence that would be supportive of

Only D and E are parallel, Choose D

D looks good but not sure, what "they" refers to in D. Police??

D is best.
"of having" is parallel to "of using".
In non underlined part "their" is used for police so "they" is correct for "police".

I received a PM asking me to comment.

In A, B and C, a reader might think that the LAWYER charged and then USED the information. Since the intended meaning is that the POLICE used the information, eliminate A, B and C.

In E, such information as they obtained is unidiomatic. Eliminate E.

D is better than the rest, but I would ignore this SC.
In the non-underlined portion, charged that she suspected is awkward and feels a bit redundant: why not simply say she ACCUSED?
In D, the change from the present perfect (HAVING taped, which implies PRIOR action) to the present (USING the information, which implies CONTEMPORANEOUS action) is confusing. Were the police USING the information at the same time as the lawyer CHARGED? The sequence of events is hard to follow.
I'm not even sure that the GMAT would approve of the idiom suspected X of VERBing. The following is more likely: The lawyer suspected that the police HAD illegally taped her conversations.
