CEIBS Vs ISB

by ravimittal » Fri Dec 17, 2010 12:13 am
Hi,

I am an Indian with a 4.5yrs of experience in general management.

I received an admit from CEIBS (China Europe International Business School) and ISB (Indian School of Business).

I am confused which school to join - CEIBS or ISB.

Can someone help ?

Hi,

If you are an Indian then ISB wins hands-down. Great brand equity in India + strong alum network in India + no need to worry about VISA status in India so if you are looking for a job in India it wins hands-down.

However CEIBS might have greater global exposure - since you already know about India knowing about China would make your profile very strong on the long run (changing global power centers yaada yaada). Also if you are looking at working in SE markets such as Hongkong then CEIBS might have an upper hand.

At the end the choice is yours - both of them are good programs and in the long run you will never regret it. Just ensure you are able to think through these before making the decision.

See MBA graduates from IIM are able to get 1Cr. salary and there are people from abroad institutes such as CEIBS who are still looking for jobs after passing out. In my institute CEIBS, there were 3 Indians who could not find jobs last year. Infact one of them searched for job for 1 long year. This year also only very few international people got job at CEIBS. Now everybody is pulling out their own personal connections to search for jobs. Hence, an international MBA is not as worth as you think.

But yes if you leave apart the job issue than you get a lot from International MBA, which is way more valuable than job. So, if you are coming to CEIBS for a job then dont come.

I am currently studying at CEIBS and can tell you that this is a world class institute in lot of parameters and perhaps way better than ISB in terms of exposure. But then you have to take your own decision that whether you are doing MBA for job or a long term investment.

well, you have to decide between two very good choices... i've just saw the FT MBA rankings for 2011, and both schools are surprisingly high! ISB at #13 and CEIBS at #17. And there is another Indian school (IIMA) at #11.
I didn't know that Indian b-schools are that good...
but I don't think you should base your choice on these or any other rankings.
