Should I take it again?

by dee123 » Mon Dec 20, 2010 12:39 pm
I took the GMAT on Nov 19th and got a 620. I was very happy the score as it is a competitive over all score for the program I am applying to. the thing is that it was made up of a very high verbal score and a below average quantitative score, so my first reaction was to reschedule another exam, since the application deadline is Jan 15th and there was enough time. So I booked another GMAT appointment for Dec 29th. I had a month to study and figured I could raise my quantitative score, or at least try. The problem is that life got in the way, i had a family member die and a whole bunch of family and work obligations and I just haven't studied much. my GMAT appointment is now 9 days away and I am not sure what to do. Should I cancel it, get the $100 back? and just be happy with my 620? or should I try to study my but off for a week and try it again? if I don't do better, i don't have to send them this report, they'd never know i took it again. but I am tempted to focus my time on my essays at the moment, since i already have a competitive GMAT score for the program I am applying to.

I need advice!!!!!

You are tempted to do the better thing. If 620 is competitive at your school of choice, why take it again and risk a dip? You can show your good quant skills in other ways. You can take a course and specify it in your application.
