Hi Vishal,

Thanks for your post.

There are a few things you should keep in mind as you consider pursuing an MBA. First, as an Indian
with a background in engineering you are in a very competitive applicant pool. Many people with similar academic (if not professional) backgrounds are also applying to top tier schools, which makes it even more difficult to stand out and have a successful admissions process.

You should also note that a majority of the schools on your list have incoming GMAT scores closer to 720 or 730. Your score of 700 will attest to your ability to do the work, but it won't really help you stand out.

Your career success and having a sales background will help differentiate you. I recommend refining your career goals - what is it that you are interested in doing long term? Consulting as a short term career goal is very common, so develop your long term goal to help differentiate.

Regarding specific schools, I suggest broadening your list. Your profile will be difficult at the traditional top 5 business schools, but there is a lot to be gained professionally and academically from other schools. I recommend you refine your career goals and then use that focus to drive your research of a broader set of schools.

Please feel free to forward your resume to [email protected] for a detailed and free profile evaluation.

Best,
Heidi
