Essay Consultants for Indian Applicants

by gmat740 » Sat Feb 07, 2009 9:41 pm
Hello Everybody,
I would like to know from the Guys from India who have already been selected for top 10-B Schools, how did they draft Application Essays?
Since the Application Essays are very Important part of the Application, I would like to know the names of the consultant they sought help from.

PS: The consultants from India have a very poor track record of dealing with early Career Applicants whereas the Consultants abroad charge too high fees which makes them practically unaffordable.

Hi,

I would like to introduce to you AppReview. This is a startup, which aims to bring in a new concept and model to the realm of admissions consulting. We are based out of India and are an eclectic mix of students who have secured admissions in Grad School/MBA at various Ivy League, OxBridge colleges in addition to other prestigious universities such as Stanford, LSE, Imperial College etc.

The profile of each and every mentor is very impressive, with each one of us having excellent test scores. However, each mentor's overall profile, beyond the test scores and academics is unique as well. Some are scholars, others are the youngest in the country to pioneer various fields and some are at the peak of their careers - but all have that innate desire to excel and pursue quality education.

We are aware of the various national and local level admissions consultants and the kind of quality they offer. We would not like to directly comment on the same, as applicants would know better, but can confidently say that we as a team can offer unparalleled admissions consulting services in India. In fact, the primary motivation factor for this startup has been the frustration the founders, and the other mentors faced due to the two primary reasons identified above, which are:

1. Unfavourable exchange rate making hiring consultants abroad impossible
2. The 'quality' of consulting available

We are young and energetic, and very different based on some parameters:

1. Our cost model (beneficial to foreign students as well owing to the favourable exchange rate) is very attractive. We are offering comprehensive school packages. These would include telephonic conversations with the applicant to determine their personality, know them better and draft an application that gives them the best shot they have at the schools they are targeting. Costs can be discussed via email or PM.

2. We are students who have just completed/have earlier completed our admissions cycle and can thus connect with applicants like no other consultant can. We realize that a lot of students would maybe not be convinced given our lack of experience. However, we strongly believe that our overall idea, our methodology and our impressive mentors will make you change your mind.

3. We are based out of India, but our arsenal of mentors is completely international. We are looking to offer an amazing array of options to prospective applicants based on geography, schools, study concentration, background profile etc.

4. Our mentors are exactly the kind of people who would be recruited by admissions consultants abroad. We all share a common 'Indian' ideal - providing good services to students, help them reach their targeted and deserved platforms and give a good return on investment.

5. All our mentors will have their profiles, score reports and admission offer letters online for every student to verify - something no other consulting agency offers outright! (We will be putting up our official website soon. )

Please find below profiles of some of our mentors:

1. Our Founder/Grad school mentor
GMAT 690/ TOEFL iBT 113/120
Indian Exams: CAT 99.78 Percentile/ XAT 99.92 Percentile
Final confirmed offers: Abroad: Cornell, LSE, Duke University (And various management institutes in India including IIM-L)
School topper in English (at both secondary and senior secondary levels)
Outstanding achievements, including being the Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional of India

2. One of our other mentors (Grad)
GRE: 1530/1600
All India Topper in IIT-JEE, AIEEE
99.99 percentile in CAT (Converted 6 IIM calls, including IIM-A, B, C etc.)
Great internships (Google etc.) and excellent final placement
Going to Stanford for MS (Computer Science)

3. Some of our MBA Mentors
GMAT Scores: 710-760
Some schools they have been accepted at: Yale SOM, Said Business School at Oxford, Cornell - Johnson School
Some achievements: One is a VP at a prominent Indian bank, another is the youngest Indian to get into Yale's MBA program (Silver Scholar)

We are willing to offer beatthegmat.com users 15% discount on our services as well. For more information regarding the same, please email us at [email protected] or PM us.

Regards,
Ankit
