Hello,

First, I'd like to share my two bookmarks with you. Most of you know them, but it doesn't hurt. Here they are: I'm doing my own research to see the mysterious differences between all these schools. Do you know a link that lists the particularities of all these schools besides the above links? Do you know what schools are best for technology business, international trading, and/or business development?

Well, "Vault" is one site that comes to mind. It has all these surveys that gives a students perspective on the academics, employment prospect etc. That should be a good place to start your research.

Back when I was looking at business schools 2-3 years ago, I used the US News and World report magazine regarding rankings. It broke the rankings down into categories such as marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, etc. Since I am specifically interested in entrepreneurship, it made a lot more sense for me to apply to the top schools in that bucket (Babson and Wharton) rather than all around top programs.

Hi Tatiana,

How did you make the list category-wise. I found many lists but none is a special category-wise list. I am looking for a MBA specialising in general management. (Heading Finance or Marketing are not my aims).

So I dont know is it only Finance that makes Wharton good, or would it also be worthwhile going there for general management.

IMHO - the term 'general management' is a very broad skill set. To be honest, I am not even sure what that means (from an instruction standpoint) and I am not sure how schools differentiate themselves from each other.

How do schools really teach general management? Yes, there are classes in leadership, org behavior and other disiplines, but overall general management is a loose term. Most top MBA programs will give you a broad business background, which will help you as a manager. Also, many would argue that case-based classes/coursework better prepare students for managerial decision making.

Although Wharton has the reputation of a 'finance' program, the school has many strengths, including marketing and entrepreneurship.

Wharton is often considered as one of the top business schools in the country (often only ranked behind HBS and Stanford). I am not sure what the acceptance rates are, but as you can imagine - it is quite competitive.
