So...just when I thought I had it all figured out, my B-School decision was turned on its head. I would like to hear some opinions on whether the brand name/prestige is worth more than the overall fit for a B-School.
To be very specific, I am toiling between Georgetown (McDonough) or American (Kogod) part-time programs. I have had exceptionally positive experiences with all my interactions with Kogod and thought for sure that AU was the school for me. To my surprise, Georgetown asked me to interview for their PT program, and I don't see any reason I would not be admitted. Both programs are very similar academically, both have very reputable faculty (although G'town recently obtained a new Dean from HBS),both have solid reputations - at least in the mid-Atlantic region.
What is very important to me, as I will be completely changing careers post MBA, is job placement and a comparable salary to what I have now. Georgetown has a distinct edge on Kogod in this regard. However, I like the small class size and availability of the faculty, staff, and resources at Kogod.
One solid argument says "go to the school that you feel is the best fit for you, 'cause it's really all about what you do with your MBA that makes a difference." However, another solid argument is that an MBA is really just a "prestige degree," that said one should attend the most prestigious school possible.
Thoughts??

This is what exactly I would do. MBA is all about what is your experience? So select which is the best one for you? and go ahead."go to the school that you feel is the best fit for you, 'cause it's really all about what you do with your MBA that makes a difference."
If I am wrong correct me , If my post helped let me know by clicking the Thanks button .

I think branding is important in the global stage. That's just my personal opinion. Quality of courses are usually pretty much similar in the top 50 ranked institutions. Hope this helps.

what I would do is get accepted to Georgetown first... then repost this question. might not even be something to consider
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.

Sorry, my curiosity is getting the better of me. Did you consider full-time MBA programs given that you plan to switch careers (perhaps industry too??) or only part-time programs?
