3.79 GPA with Honors

GMAT (planning on retaking)
650 (84%)
Q44 (73%)
V35 (77%)

Resume
Investment Banking
Analyst
4 years with two different banks
Typical banking experience but have several great stories to include in essays

Small team which provided fantastic experience and exposure
Several examples of teamwork, leadership, and innovation which can be included in essays

My list of schools is long at the moment: Wharton, Columbia, Michigan, Northwestern, Tuck, NYU, UVA, and Duke.

Given my current score and background, can you please tell me which schools would be realistic?

Can I also please know which schools would be realistic if the new score was in the 670-680 range?

Dear MBA2009-2011,

Honestly, these schools are all stretch schools for you at a 650 and many at a 680. All of these schools have GMAT averages at or above a 680, most over a 700. While you appear to have a great GPA and strong work experience, you will be facing fierce competition this year and it is probable many will have a similar profile to yours.

In addition to retaking the GMAT, I think it is important for you to put together a compelling set of essays, outstanding recommendations and a great interview. Additionally, I would suggest adding 1-2 safety schools to the mix. You might end up at one of your top choices, but it is always good to have alternatives if you want to be in business school next fall.
