Sentence Correction Nightmares

by light_man » Tue Jun 21, 2011 9:24 pm
I am having difficulties with sentence correction's  . I was never good at part's of speech, verb tense etc. I always struggled with writing english. I can't even identify basic parts of speech correctly most of the time.

Do you recommend anything that will get me started(I thought of starting with basic's 8th grader stuff and build up on it).

I currently have Manhattan Sentence correction and Veritas books. Should I start with basic's stuff and later move to these books?.

Dude, You just gotta start with Manhattan SC guide, its awesome. Go thru the whole book twice and you're through. SC will be a smooth go! I believe!

You can try "Doing Grammar by Max Morenberg".

MGMAT sentence correction is a good book to start with, since GMAT tests specific areas of grammar.MGMAT books covers these areas with examples.Proper understanding of these fundamentals will help you to move towards higher difficulty level questions.

I tried to make a video for tackling the SC issue:

there are 5 videos in total around 40 minutes of recording on my strategy for SCs.

You might try some books that help people study for TOEFL, or ESL materials.

Aside from that, I also highly recommend including the Official Guide to the GMAT in your books, once you reach the level where you feel comfortable doing Manhattan and Veritas.
