x-y>-2

x=3,y=2,xy>0

x=3,y=-1,xy<0

Insuff

stmt2,

x-2y<-6

x=2,y=5,xy>0

x=-4,y=2,xy<0

Insuff

Combining 1 and 2,

x-y>-2 or 2x-2y>-4

x-2y<-6 or 2y-x>6

y>4 and x>2

xy>0

Suff

Each statement alone is clearly insufficient....I was thinking about the two statements together....

x-y > -2 => x > -2 + y
x-2y < -6 => x < -6 + 2y

if y = 6 ,

x > -2+6 and x < -6+12
i.e. x > 4 and x < 6

in this case xy>0

if y = -6

x > -2-6 and x <-6-12
i.e x > -8 and x < -18

so here x can positive or negative...which would change the result of xy > 0 ?

SO....I would've picked (E).... Am I missing something here ??
