A higher interest rate is only one of the factors, albeit an important one, that keeps the housing market from spiraling out of control, like it did earlier in the decade.

Factors is the main Subject here. Hence Keep is correct.

IMO C

B, D, E - Out - wrong subject verb agreement - interest rate singular - keep plural
A - like is used wrongly...it should be "as" ...

The answer is C..

here 'that' refers to 'factors'

If 'that' has to refer to 'Higher interest rate", then the sentence should have been like below

"A higher interest rate is the only one of the factors,"

Answer must be B. One of + that is always plural. Eliminate A and C

Like vs As -

E is wrong, because like always follows by noun and not by clause.
D is not clear in the comparison

B is correct

than "it" in the second clause refers to what - factors or interest rate?

IMO Answer is C but it's not because 'That refers to factors'
That does refer to rate, the problem is with subject verb agreement, keep vs keeps.

Last minute shocks when I got to know that OA is C and OA is C was confirmed by stacey...
But when I looked at the question again...I said...na stacey will never say that OA is C...
Has to be B..
Looked up in brutal Sc doc..OA is B..
Stacey confirmed that OA is B..

one of the Xs that <plural verb> So B...

only one of the Xs that <plural verb >
the only one of the Xs <singular verb?

There are total 5/6 constructions of this type..
But as of now i remember ..only 3..
:(
