Say there x men and y women in the club.

Thus, there are x/2 +3y/5 Democrats in the club.

We have to find out the value of x/y.

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) In club Y the number of female members is one less than the number of male members.

x – y = 1. Insufficient.

2) In club Y the number of male Republican members is equal to the number of female Democratic members.

=> x/2 = 3y/5

x/y = 6/5. Sufficient.

The correct answer: B
