That's a good question. I have not noticed certain keywords appearing more frequently in correct answer choices for those type of questions. I don't think there's a shortcut for weaken/strengthen other than understanding the necessary assumptions.

I take it this way when I see these kinds of words in the options-->
may be--> probability of that condition to happen is 50-50 and hence it is inconclusive.. Thus we can not say anything conclusive about that statement..
tend to--> If any of the option says 'CONDITION X tends to happen when......***'. In these kinds of cases, We cannot conclusively assume whether condition X will happen..

These keywords sometimes confuse me...
