Experts examining trends

Experts examining trends in the housing market predict that the number of annual home foreclosures will continue to increase while the number of new home sales will continue to decrease.
a. the number of new home sales will continue to decrease
b. those of new home sale decrease
c. it decreases for new home sales
d. those of new home sales decrease
e. there are decreases for the number of new home sales

I chose A becuase "the number of annual home foreclosures" is parallel to "the number of new home sales" and the simple tense is mantained.

The option D is wrong- what does "those" refer to? It refers to "the number" which is singular.
