Can someone please explain why every doesnt work here -

Chinese, consists of thousands of characters, every character is a miniature calligraphic composition inside their own frame. WRONG

Chinese, consists of thousands of characters, each character is a miniature calligraphic compositiion inside its own frame. RIGHT

I thought that since we are talking about all the characters in the Chinese alphabet every should be more appropriate...

Noticed in the OG explanation for this question, they did not cite the usage of "every" as the error, but instead they cited subject/verb agreement as the error.
