Wow I really have nothing bad to say about your qualifications, which would rival any top applicant. Your GMAT and academics are stunning and your number of years work experience is right at the sweet spot of five years. What I am not seeing is much interaction with upper management and possibly also experience leading others. How many direct reports have you had? You say 'team management," which could mean many things. Make sure you cast your experience as leadership oriented, at least in the sense that it was a good foundation for future leadership opportunities. Just based on what I see, as long as you write a passionate application, weave a good story, and cast a vision for what you want to do post MBA which seems to fit in with your experience, you should be a top candidate at any b-school. I also love the dairy story--make sure you work that in! Good luck.

Thanks Bryant,

Do following things help in throwing some light on the points that you asked?

1 - Experience Leading Others

a) I was working as a business analyst for the launch of a new product for my client as part of that activity I performed following functions

- Interaction with stakeholders - 10 in number - that included Product Line Managers, Delivery Managers, Operations team members

- Framing business requirements in a way that is understandable to the Design Team , constituting 8 members most of them were either senior to me in terms of number of years of work experience or designations

- I also acted as the onsite/offshore co-coordinator for the design team - updating them with the latest process changes - the way client wanted us to work as per new operational model

- Prioritizing the work for the team and defining the work stack for the team.

- These team members didn't report to me for effort approval (I assume because my experience was less than most of the team members) but I was involved in the Planning of work so as to utilize team as much as possible, allocation of work based on the skills, experience of the team members, taking updates from them and tracking their progress as the main activities.

As I see it I did do the work but was not tagged as team leader :-). What do you say?

2 - Interaction with Upper Management

a) As part of my Initial assignment with the client.

- I made proposals about the work that need to be done, highlighting the advantages of the approach (cost benefits, better customer experience, less manual interventions). Audience included Product development manager from the client side , Delivery Managers, Network Designers, Technical Specialists, external vendors and Operational users of the product

b) As part of business analyst role

- Representing team in various forums with external equipment vendors to understand their product offerings in a better way
- Reporting progress of the work to the product managers, delivery managers
- Scheduling calls with senior operation managers to understand their requirements and make sure that they get what they asked for?

regards
Vijay
