Hi Everyone,
I'd been reading this forum for a little while but had never created an account. I am a little lost and would like to hear your advice.
I am almost 27 years old and I graduated with a BA in Economics & Communications (Double major) back in 2009. I have been working for my current employer for almost 2.5 years now. Needless to say, what I do now has nothing to do with what I studied for in school. In fact, if I could go back in time, I would've never picked these two majors and would have chosen other specialized fields instead.
My employer loves me and has shown that they really do value me. And although I enjoy what I do now, I feel that there is not much room to grow and advance.....and to be honest, I am not very happy with my salary and I feel that with what I do now, I will never be able to reach where I'd like to be in the future. With that said, I think I want to go back to school to add to my credentials.
Back in college when I was an undergrad, i had made the mistake of choosing what i thought was the "easiest" majors...and all I cared about were parties/having fun. I am not the most intelligent person (definitely not), but I know that if I actually worked harder, I could've done something else. I have wasted too much time and I really regret it.
I would like to fix things now, before it's way too late. My goal is really (please excuse me for being blunt), to study in something that could help me get into well-paid positions (perhaps not immediately, but at least in the future). Would an MBA be the way to go?
Or should I go back and get another Bachelor's degree in something completely different? (I see that my friends who studied engineering are doing very well)
I know I sound like I really shouldn't be considering school at this point since I don't seem to know what I want to do...But due to the fact that i grew up in a low income background and have had some very difficult times in the past....all I really do care about is to be able to make more money...I would like to know where I should start...
Would anyone care to give me some advice please? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks all!
