XLRI GMP Vs AIM, Manila

by guesswhoamihuh » Tue Mar 19, 2013 12:07 am
I have got an admission in both XLRI (GMP) and AIM, Manila.

I have 4.5 years work experience in sales and mktg in hotels and 1.5 year work ex in a software company as a key account manager. I am a hotel mgmt grad. I want to get into brand management after completion of MBA. I may work out of India if a suitable opportunity is available.

I am confused what to choose. Please help.

Hi,

One of my HR colleagues, when i was working in Hong Kong on a project, was a bright Indian guy with a masters diploma from XLRI India and he had high regard for the school. Surprisingly i met a couple of senior HR professionals in Singapore & Hong Kong who were graduates from XLRI India. I don't know much about AIM, which i believe is Asian Institute of Management but what i have come to believe is that the kind of support from a top school that one can get in India seems unmatchable.

Hope it helps.

Hi

I know many XLRI GMP grads who are working in India. Institute has decent placements, however getting into international role right out of campus seems difficult. XLRI GMP is relatively better for making career in HR or operations, number of sales profiles are very less.
AIM Manila would definitely have better exposure and increases chances of international placements. You may also consider fees in order to make informed decision.

Hi
AIM Manila is waaaaayyyyyyyy more expensive than XLRI. I am not very keen on working outside India. I would love some international exposure, which XLRI does not offer :-(

Hi
You are at a crucial phase and we understand that makinng a choice is difficult task. What you can do is to jot down pros and cons of both schools in terms of fees, career opportunity, ROI, probability if getting international exposure etc.
Do take informed decision which suits to your personal & professional needs.
