Cancelled appointment

by obsessed_GMAT » Mon Feb 08, 2010 3:49 am
Dear All,

After preparing long and hard for 5 weeks after I last took my GMAT on the 21st Dec, I have had to cancel my appointment due to bad health.

My appointment was scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. The GMAT journey is so long!! I have to reschedule my appointment.
I pray that I will have the strength to carry on.

Don't get discouraged. Your health is more important than this test. The one thing you should do is spend the time wisely. Go through all of your material again, and shore up any weaknesses.

You'll definitely be able to do it. You've made it this far, just have a little bit more to go. Just keep in mind that ultimately it's just a test, an annoying one, but just a test nonetheless ;-) You're almost done! When will you be taking it again?

first, my condolences. The road to the GMAT is an arduous one and setbacks such as the one you have suffered may be hard to recover from. But, fret not, we are hear to help you get back and kicking. Remember, health is primary and everything else, even the GMAT, is secondary.

Something has been nagging me about this and I would like to get it out into the open: You get no refund if you cancel less than 7 days before your test date. So, IMO, since you are able enough to enter this post, you could have taken a taxi to the test center and given it a shot. If at any stage you were not feeling upto it, you could have cancelled and left. If your body was upto it, you could have completed the GMAT and at the end, based on how you felt you fared, you could have either cancelled or submitted your scores. You wouldn't have lost anything this way.

Please correct me if my understanding/ assumptions are flawed.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but Sars, you've read Doing Grammar correct? If so, could you check your PM and give me your opinions on the book in the thread i made asking for a review of it. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks all for your support. I have booked my appointment for the 18th of Feb. I hope I will be upto it.

I would have hopped into a taxi if I was taking the test in the same city. However, the city where I had scheduled my appointment is 1 hour away by flight! I also have a 1.5 yr old daughter whom I had to tag along, and the Nanny was sick too! Maybe I was just not destined to take the test on the 8th.

I lost the 250$. Its ok though. I hope my appointment on the 18th will be smooth.

Thanks again for the encouragement and kind words!

at least it gives you an extra 2 weeks to study... who knows the $250 loss may have been worth it if you can study a bit and increase your score by even 10 points!
