Profile Evaluation

by schumacher » Tue Sep 13, 2011 8:54 pm
Hi,

I am a prospective Fall'12 applicant and my profile is as follows -

Undergrad Degree:BE, Graduated in the Top 1%
Graduate Degree: MS, GPA: 3.8/4
GMAT:730
Full-time Experience: 4 years within S&T at a bulge-bracket IB

Target Schools: HBS, Stanford, Wharton, MIT, Chicago Booth, LBS

Questions:
1. How does my overall profile fit with respect to what is required at the aforementioned B Schools?
2. Due to time constraints, I may not be able to apply to all the schools in Round 1. Do you recommend R1 over R2 for certain schools ?

Best regards,

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Given the information you've shared I think it's fair to say you have a competitive profile for the schools on your list. Your academic profile is quite strong given your GMAT score and performance in your Masters program, and your work experience is right on target with the type of experience top programs are seeking in applicants.

In regard to the timing of your applications, it's fair to say that all the programs on your are quite competitive and that round 1 applications are ideal, however, I recognize that time constraints make submitting applications to all the program on your list impossible. I would suggest prioritizing your list based on your personal preference. Ideally you should apply to the programs in order of your personal preference. Given each school on your list is so competitive, personal preference is probably the best strategy in regard to timing.

Best,

Stacey
